Father God Lord Jesus Holy Spirit We present ourselves before You again this Sunday. We come to remember and be refreshed. To recall moments when You spoke clearly. Thinking of times You’ve rescued us. Remembering how You’ve directed Our thoughts and our steps Along with those clarifying moments when we Have known your compassionate conviction. We want to be saturated with faith, hope, and love. And we need You to expose our idols. We agree our hearts are desperately wicked. Idolatry is our natural state. We put too much trust in worldly systems For significance and identity. We find identity and meaning in our intelligence, In relationships, in food and drink, And in holding the best views on How life should be lived. We don’t realize our idolatry until The idol falls and we flail for security. Then we grasp, again, that the core Of our value is our status As your delightful children. Reawaken our first love, Lord. Remind us that You are the headwaters Of our lives. We will never give up receiving from You. There’s always more—a daily immersion. And the best is yet to be—purity of heart, Washed clean, forever. Amen.
