Hi Karen,

You outdid yourself (once again :-) ). You know I wrote an article last week about confession, so I began your article with heightened interest. But I loved the twist you put on confession: how we prefer the imaginary and fantasy, or (better yet) the style over substance.

Your allusion to appearances in social media is perfect.

In my article, I focused on the FACT we moderns dislike confession. In your poem, you explained WHY we hate confession; we hate anything that makes us look bad.

I really like your poem. It reminds me of what Jesus says to the church of Laodicea in Revelation 3:

"Because you say, ‘I am rich, have become wealthy, and have need of nothing’—and do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked" Rev 3:17

Hi Sam, thanks! The psalms are always sparked by the variety of thoughts I’ve read through the week, yours always included. Isn’t it so lovely that God weaves beautiful words into and then through each one of us, in our own distinctive voice.

And to think we get to live together forever, in harmony and joy, in true holiness, in the goodness of God.

A far distance from 21st century America, lost in deception, unwilling to look at truth. Oh, Lord, send your Spirit of conviction! Save the lost and sanctify your people.

Bless you, Sam. You’re a gift to me and to many.
