Article voiceover
Father God Lord Jesus Holy Spirit We present ourselves before You again this Sunday. We are made to live not just on bread But on every word that You speak And we are hungry for a fresh word. We know we depend on You for our daily bread. We know we live and move and have Our being in You. We know we need You to keep us Out of the clutches of the evil one. Many times, the fresh word is The ancient word, renovated by new experience. We know but we don’t know for sure Until we are pressed into a corner, Fighting our way out of a trial We had not seen coming. Then, we know our weakness. We experience our limitations. We understand that, unless You Feed us, we will be too weak to fight. Feed us again, today, dear Jesus. We need You every day, every minute. We praise You for your empathy. We praise You for your compassion. We need to know that You Suffer right alongside us. We are not alone. We will never give up absorbing your words. Your voice always refreshes. And the best is still to come, when we will Be fully satisfied, welcome at your table forever. Amen.
Hi Karen,
Your prayer poem touches on something that is stirring my heart: What is human flourishing? You answer by quoting Jesus: "We are made not to live just on bread ... but on every Word You speak ... And we are hungry for a fresh Word."
Yes!
In this world we keeping thinking "If I just had 'this' [bread, water, TV, car, house, spouse...], then I'd be happy." But Jesus says, "This is eternal life, knowing Me."
You go on to remind us that He is our bread, and He is our Life and the source of our movement, and Being, and protection, and Savior.
So, yes Lord, we turn to You for everything.
THANK YOU Karen!
Sam
