Do we realize just how dependent we are on God? I don’t. I often go through my day, thinking of what to cook for dinner, what words to write, or how to spend my time, without asking God for input. Oh, He has better things to do. Well, no. The scriptures say He is actively involved in our lives to make us into the image of Jesus. That requires a moment to moment awareness and involvement in our everyday lives. How He does it, I can’t say. What exactly his part is and our part is remains unclear. That He means to mature us and bring the kingdom so that his will shall be done on earth as it is in heaven, He’s made pretty clear. It’s right there in the prayer He taught us. Are we in pain today? Pain helps us remember how weak we are. Our weakness can be an opportunity to rely on his strength. To say, “I trust You, Jesus, even if this pain is not healed until eternity. Help me do what I need to do today and give me wisdom to see what does not need to be done. Give me a faithful way to think about how You see my situation. Teach me how to pray.” Are we joyful today? Let’s remember the source, the only source, of beauty and goodness. “Lord, thank You, thank You, thank You, for all You’ve provided. The beauty of tulips, the wonder of human love, the intricacy of your design of it all.”
Lord, we need your help to grasp our dependence on You. Thank You that You are utterly dependable. Give us the grace to trust You through everything and to trust your promise of a soon coming kingdom. We look forward to joy eternal. The Lord bless You and keep You all your days.
Romans 8:29 Matthew 6:9-13
Welcome, Sam. Thanks for your thoughtful reading and response. The irony had not occurred to me. 🤣 But there it is…
Blessings on your day.
A great reminder that God is at work in me and can use me for His purposes (which of course are the best purposes), even if/when I am not my best self.
