Of course, you teach a subject I love (hearing God) and I LOVE your total reliance on the goodness of God: Out of His grace, He speaks in ways that we can hear.
God doesn't speak to us because of our goodness (or smarts, or wisdom) but because of HIS goodness (and smarts and wisdom).
It was so helpful, as I was growing up emotionally and spiritually, when I finally grasped that God could speak to me in a way I could hear and would give me the power to obey. That, as you say, it’s about His character, not ours. Such a relief from all my anxiety about missing Him.

Hi Sam,
It was so helpful, as I was growing up emotionally and spiritually, when I finally grasped that God could speak to me in a way I could hear and would give me the power to obey. That, as you say, it’s about His character, not ours. Such a relief from all my anxiety about missing Him.
And your book, Hearing God in Conversation, aligns so closely to how I think about hearing God.( https://beliefsoftheheart.com/hearing-god-in-conversation/)
And I just recommended your book about Sunday School to our SS leaders.
All God’s best to you today, Sam. Thanks for your comment.
