Father God Lord Jesus Holy Spirit We present ourselves before You again this Sunday. We come now to the first week of Advent. The first day of the liturgical calendar Meant to retell your story every year. We begin again to declare this Story above all stories— Your history that encompasses everything And gives meaning to each life, Enfolding the whole universe, From the solar systems to the molecules Of our mortal bodies. Only in your story do we find hope. Because You have offered us not Only this life with You, but the life That is coming, in immortal bodies. The moments we experience now Of your work and presence Feed our expectation that we will be With You in new bodies, forever. In this upside down world, it’s Hard to hope, to trust, to believe. So much disappointment. We need those moments with You To rest our hope on. We will never give up believing in You. There’s always more story to live. And what is yet to be, when the Story takes a turn for the best, Will surpass our highest hopes. Amen.
Hi Karen,
Thanks again for your faithful and truthful writing. I love your middle (ish) line, which is reflected in your title: "Only in your story do we find hope."
It's an amazing and humbling matter that His story (birth, life, death, resurrection, and nature) not only gives me hope, but it is my only hope.
I need to remember that; and I need to wonder at it.
Thanks
