Some of us, filing taxes today, bemoan the small numbers. Not because we actually need more, but because we want more. On this Tuesday of Holy Week, we also remember Jesus. Jesus, who lived the life we needed Him to live. Who died the death we needed Him to die. Who, having set his face like flint to fulfill his Father’s will, strode forward to meet the need. And, though our Father knows we need resources to buy food and shelter, He knows our central need is to be found in Jesus. Jesus, we remember this week, that You did what was needed. You lived a life fully surrendered to your Father and ours. You released your wants and embraced our need. Give us more grace to release our desire to avoid suffering and to let You embrace us. Wherever that embrace takes us. The Lord bless you and keep you all your days.
