We Receive His Peace Like a Child

Sunday Psalm 12.8.24

Father God 
Lord Jesus
Holy Spirit

We present ourselves before You again this Sunday.
We want to approach You as children.
You said we wouldn’t receive your kingdom
Unless we entered it like a child.

And it is in counting on You like a little kid
That we will find your peace.

Small ones in healthy families have
Nothing to fear.
They don’t know enough to fear larger
Social instabilities or the possible dangers
Of the streets around them.

What they know and expect is attentive care.
They know mom and dad are there.
They know they are inordinately 
Proud of their first toddling steps.
They know one of them comes running
If they fall off their bike.

They know food will satisfy their hunger
And correction will be given with compassion.
Spring vacations are being planned and
Presents are soon to appear under a sparkly tree. 

In such an environment, peace permeates their being.
So, Lord, we want to encounter You today 
Like a child, with the peace You give
Because You are our incorruptible Father.

We will never give up receiving your peace.
There’s always more to penetrate our hearts.
And the best peace remains, 
when expectation becomes reality, with You, forever.
