There’s a world of difference between facing God with our sadness and anger and turning our back on Him in our sadness and anger. We either submit or rebel. We can express our feelings to Him but our stance toward Him determines the fruit. King David often wrote out his pain in the Psalms but he ends with trust in God’s goodness. Example: Psalm 13. If we come into his presence with an essentially submitted heart, we can say almost anything to him. “I hate You for…” We can be emotionally real with Him if we follow it up with something like: “And yet, I believe You are real and good, though I don’t feel it just this minute." If we turn our back on Him: “You cannot be real because I and others are suffering too much,” is there any way He can reveal himself? Doesn’t his commitment to our freedom preclude a forceful revelation? Let’s be angry, but sin not, as Paul writes in Ephesians. Let’s pour out our hearts to our Father, in trust that He hears, He cares, and He is working out his goodness in our lives. The Lord bless you and keep you all your days.
