We Depend On You, Holy Spirit

Father God 
Lord Jesus
Holy Spirit

We present ourselves before You again this Sunday.
This week, some of us are working 
On various projects over several days.
We’ll cook and eat together.
We’ll spend the evenings together.

For five days, we will be a closer community.
A subset of our larger group and including
Some others from a cousin community.
We will feel even more like a family,
With both fun and challenge.

As always, Holy Spirit, we need your help.
We depend on You to direct and empower.
We look for your wisdom to 
Continue to plan and to do the work.

Please watch over us with special care
To protect from the enemy’s attacks.
The destroyer of souls hates 
When we worship You in service and fellowship.

In one sense, our activities are small things.
And yet, You will use these days to shape us.
We might be convicted of disdainful attitudes.
We may get clearer about our arrogance.
We could be chagrined at our laziness.

But maybe not. Maybe You’ve so worked
In our hearts already that all will be lightness and joy
And we’ll have a quite literal taste of heaven.

In any case, we will not give up serving You.
There’s always more to do.
And your reward is on the way, 
Our true best life, together with You, forever.
