Father God Lord Jesus Holy Spirit We present ourselves before You again this Sunday. We come today because You Have taken us seriously And we want to respond seriously. You are not trifling with our lives. You are not a figment of our imaginations. You are He who spoke all creation into existence. And You made us out of dust and bone. You gave us a choice to choose You And eternal consequences if we turn away. Every day, Your word gives structure. Holy Spirit, You guide and comfort. We want to take You even more seriously. In a world where many live virtual lives, We testify to the solidity of real life. We testify to the goodness of life together. We testify to the witness of beauty Because You are the source of Truth, goodness, and beauty. If we enjoyed any good and beautiful experience This week, it is You who created The possibility of enjoyment. Reveal Yourself in unmistakable ways Today, please. We need to know You Are present and active. We will never give up taking You seriously. There’s always more to embrace. And the best is yet to be, when we will enjoy Truth, goodness, and beauty forever. Amen.
Hi Karen,
Your meditation on "taking God seriously" is powerful, a reminder of Who He Is In Himself, and a reminder for me to ... remember it!
Halfway through you contrast the ephemeral nature of online, "virtual" lives with the substance of real LIFE. It reminded me of the contrast in Psalm 1 of the Life that is like a solid, immoveable tree with the transitory, illusionary existence of "chaff" that looks like a seed but is hollow and empty.
And then you celebrate all kinds of aspects of that real, substantial, solid structure of Life with God: His creation of us, the freedom of choice He give us, His power in sustaining us, the goodness He gives in real (not virtual) lives together, the true/real truth/joy/goodness/beauty He gives us; and His self-revelation to us of His presence in our lives.
We can have the real thing ... or just a shadow.
Thanks
