Together We Stand, With You, For You

Sunday Psalm 4.21.24

Father God
Lord Jesus
Holy Spirit

We present ourselves before You again this Sunday.
Most of us are here because 
You have revealed yourself to us.

This gathering isn’t a class, exactly.
Nor is it primarily a social event. 
We’re here because You call us to
Meet together to honor You.

Today, some of us have 
Dragged ourselves here because of that call.
And by our mere presence this morning
We honor and stand for You.

We stand for the faithfulness You’ve shown.
We stand for the goodness of a long obedience
In the same direction.
We stand for repentance and forgiveness.
We stand for grace.

Not by our own strength do we stand.
You stand with us, your arm around our shoulders. 
Each one of us knows our own story.
We know the closets You’ve cleaned out.
We know the chains You’ve broken.
We know the depth of hope You’ve given.

We worship You, standing together in our 
Individual experience of your beauty and truth, 
Grateful for your promise of eternal goodness.

We will never give up standing for You.
There’s always more worth standing for.
And we trust your promise that the best is yet to be. 
Amen.
