Father God Lord Jesus Holy Spirit, We present ourselves before You again this Sunday. Some of us feel that, like Peter, Satan has Been sifting us like wheat this week. But we are here, waiting, wishing to settle Into your presence, anticipating your deliverance. Thank you for praying for us, Jesus, By your Spirit, with groans too deep for words. We understand that our trials Are your means to refine our character. We don’t like that process, nor are we expected to, But we submit to it, grateful for the grace You give in the midst of the challenges. To follow You is to commit ourselves to acting in Our longterm best interest. We have learned that life Is not all about pleasure and dopamine hits. We know that scrolling through our phone, from Instagram to Facebook to Flipboard is not enough. The short term pleasures get dull. But anticipating your beautiful kingdom, Working to usher your presence into the world, Following You through hard places— Those practices yield the deepest joy. Far beyond the passing pleasures here, We participate in the now unseen eternity. We will never give up waiting for You. There’s always more to anticipate. And the best is yet to be when temporary Pleasure is swallowed up in eternal joy. Amen.
