Take a beauty break to remember Narnia. This image of a working gas streetlight in Cincinnati, with a path leading into the woods, puts me in mind of C.S. Lewis’s magnificent tales.
Take a beauty break to consider the poppies. Delicate, papery petals, vulnerable to wind and rain, yet designed by a Creator-Father who wants to give us delightful color and form.
And this clematis plant in our front yard, shining in the morning light. After 20 years, this plant is taking off. It’s survived, but not thrived. A few blossoms, a small presence. But this season is the time to bloom. Mystery and beauty together.
We can rest in the mysteries because Jesus is alive and at work. We can take a beauty break because He is alive and at work. Our work will resume in a moment. But, for now, let’s take a break to appreciate the beauty He’s made for us to enjoy.
