“At that time his voice shook the earth, but now he has promised, “Once more I will shake not only the earth but also the heavens.” The words “once more” indicate the removing of what can be shaken—that is, created things—so that what cannot be shaken may remain. Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe, for our “God is a consuming fire.”” Hebrews 12:26-29, NIV We need a radical trust in Jesus that when everything around us is being shaken, we will not be unduly stirred up. We will be anchored to the solidity of the unshakeable kingdom of God. We cannot work that up, so we pray: Lord, we need your kind of faith in the Father. The kind of faith You had when You physically lived among us, that sustained You through a heinous death to a glorious resurrection. We live in perilous times among wars and rumors of wars, political and social violence, and many kinds of disruptions to peace. We need You to strengthen our trust in You. As You enable us, we will seek You with our whole hearts. We long for your kingdom to come on the earth, for your will to be done here as it is there. Amen. The Lord bless you and keep you all your days.
