Restore Our First Love

Sunday Psalm 8.11.24

Father God
Lord Jesus
Holy Spirit

We present ourselves before You again this Sunday.
Once more, we gather to declare your glory,
To pray together,
To sing of You and to You,
To understand more of your word—
The words that bring healing and hope.

We confess the routine sometimes
Becomes habit rather than love.
But we want to love You like we did
When we first received your life.

We want to not just remember
But also experience the continual freshness
Of receiving your life in our life.

We can only live obediently
As You live your life in us.
In Galatians, Paul says we have been
Crucified with You and the life
We now live in the body, we live by 
Faith in You, Jesus.

Such realities are beyond us.
We keep reaching for truth, but 
We need Your Spirit, Jesus, to grasp You.

Come, Holy Spirit, reveal Jesus afresh.
Restore to us the love we had at the start,
When we first heard that Jesus gave 
Himself for us and to us. 

We will never give up longing for You.
There’s always more of You to receive.
And the best is yet to be, together,
Yet still persons, at the great forever feast. 
Amen.
