So I thought I had a theme of preaching scripture out loud to ourselves for today’s thought. I got started on it and when I was doing some research in my files, realized I wrote a similar piece in July. That reminded me of what I heard from (I think) Rich Mullins in this video of a performance at Wheaton College a few months before he died in an automobile accident in 1997. Someone had said his songs all sounded alike and Rich said we all only have one song, one novel, one work of art in us. That resonates. Almost everything I write relates to “receive God’s forgiveness, forgive others, and forgive yourself.” Nearly all my other words are details about what, how, when, where, and why. Forgiveness is a connection between emotional and spiritual health. Blessed are they who mourn is a crucial spiritual and emotional statement. Here’s a sermon I gave a couple of years ago on the importance of mourning. Forgiveness means to name and grieve the sin before cancelling the debt and both are crucial. And for childhood abuse and other life-altering sins against us, only God can give us the power. Now I’m reiterating what I wrote in a recent Sunday Psalm. So that’s my Tuesday Thought for you today.
One topic. Which is why we need the Body of Christ. We all contribute the one theme of our lives and so we always have something to learn from each other. If this resonates, have you identified the key theme that God has worked into your life? Feel free to share. The Lord bless you and keep you through all your days.
Really resonates but will have to think on it. Right off bat, tenacity comes to mind. Blessings.
