Looking For A Home
Sunday Psalm 7.19.26
Father God Lord Jesus Holy Spirit We present ourselves before You again this Sunday. Kris Kristofferson wrote and Janis Joplin sang, About Bobby McGee, that he was looking For a home and she hoped he’d find it. Everyone looks for a home, a place to belong. The place where, when we show up At the door, they will take us in. Some of us were born into such wonderful homes That we have gone back often to our families of origin. Some of us were turned out early, into The loneliness of the world, to make our own way. For most of us, home is somewhere in between Those extremes—mixed, like life is. But we all have an idealized image of home. We know what it’s supposed to be. And we are here because You have become home. Father, You have welcomed us. You watched for us, waiting at the window. You’ve thrown a party to celebrate. Having accepted your welcome, we don’t know When we’ll get the call to the eternal gathering. It might come unexpectedly. But some of us know we’re near the end. The summons is in the mail. We’re almost home—just a few more miles. We will never give up longing for home. There’s always more to anticipate. And we can only imagine the party when You receive us Into the beautiful mansions You have prepared. Amen.

Great message - perfect timing. We are still finding our home here, looking forward to our permanent home in heaven. Betrayal by people we let into our "home" is brutal.
