Father God Lord Jesus Holy Spirit We present ourselves before You again this Sunday. We want to sit with You today Like a weaned child with a mother. A child who no longer looks to satisfy hunger But only to enjoy the safety and warmth. If we had a good mother, we know immediately What the psalmist is describing. If we did not, we instinctively understand What that kind of closeness to a mother Would feel like. Though we call You Father, You are neither male nor female. You are spirit. You dwell in unapproachable light. And yet, in Jesus, You have made Yourself approachable. Jesus, You welcomed the little ones after Your disciples misunderstood. In first century Israel, in the flesh,You held a few Blessed children in your arms. We imagine, today, our child selves Sitting on your lap, protected in your arms. We want to stay in that place, Content to rest in You, knowing That You have welcomed us. Because we are children, there will be Teaching, and correction, but that comes later. For now, we won’t give up our place on your lap. There’s always space for us. And the best experience of You is yet to be: All discipline done, safe and warm forever. Amen.
