Jesus Changed the Meaning of Death

Sunday Psalm Easter 3.31.24

Father God
Lord Jesus
Holy Spirit

We present ourselves before you again this Sunday.
On this day of resurrection
We try, once again, to fathom
What you’ve done for us.

We need You, Spirit, to give us understanding.
We need You, Father, to reveal your love.
We need You, Jesus, to show us the 
Wholeness that you have purchased for us.

What other god pays his own price?
Is there some other creator who dies 
To redeem his rebellious creatures?

Letting yourself be crucified was 
Not a performance to garner likes on Instagram
And your rising from that tomb
Was not a sleight of hand.

You changed the meaning of death.
In fact, You killed death.
When we are in You, we are assured of
Life beyond our death.
A life unimaginably glorious.
We can live now without fear of death.

Hallelujah. There is no God but You.
We know of no one else.
Creator, sustainer, redeemer, risen, indeed!

We will never give up trusting your heart.
There’s always more to trust to You.
And the best is yet to be, in your presence,
In forever bodies, seeing with our own eyes
All that you have prepared for us.
Amen.
