Invitation to the Upside Down Kingdom

Sunday Psalm 6.23.24

Father God
Lord Jesus
Holy Spirit

We present ourselves before You again this Sunday.
Most of us here have accepted your kingdom invitation.
We gather today to rehearse and remember
That your kingdom is different from the
Kingdom of the world around us.

In your reign, true freedom is found in submission.
The only life that lasts comes from laying aside
Our natural inclinations to please ourselves and 
Taking up the command to obey You.

In your culture, we live inside your boundaries.
In your culture, the King is our father.
In your culture, we anticipate living eternally 
In a safe family.

And we begin to understand that 
We are made for You. 
We slowly grasp what that means—
That the relationship You want with us
Is as intimate as a marital relationship between
A man and a woman.

And as circumscribed.
You require fidelity.
You require respect and honor and sacrifice.
And You have attached Yourself to us.
Our joy is to learn to rest in that attachment. 

You, alone, Jesus, are the way, the truth, and the life.

We will never give up walking in your ways.
There’s always more truth to pursue.
And the best is yet to be, when You return to
Bring the life that lasts forever.
