The gospel is not: “Be a good person and God will accept you.” In honor of Jesus’ crucifixion, God has already accepted us. And, as we cooperate, God is working goodness into our hearts. For his glory, not ours. Lord, in grateful joy, we open our hearts to you again this Christmas season as we remember the beginning of Jesus’ incarnation.
