The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? Psalm 27:1 ESV
The Lord will deliver me from every evil deed, and will bring me safely to His heavenly kingdom; to Him be the glory forever and ever. Amen. 2 Timothy 4:18 NASB 1977
…being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. 1 Philippians 1:6 NIV
These are words that carried me through, more than fifty years ago, in the beginning of my walk with Jesus.
A practice I learned then that I commend to you is to speak God’s word out loud, to yourself.
Why is out loud important? I don’t know. But there’s something about proclaiming, so our ears can hear. And we exercise faith as we speak God’s word. And our trust in God’s truth drives our lying enemy away.
I don’t know how it all works, but I know that regularly speaking scripture aloud rather than just reading it, increased my ability to rest in Jesus’ care and strengthened my hope that he was at work in my life.
And in my last years, these words resonate.
Only Jesus is worthy of my honor.
I will, at the right time, be brought safely into his heavenly kingdom.
And he will have completed his work in me.
Glory.
