Father God Lord Jesus Holy Spirit We present ourselves before You again this Sunday. If we have or had a good mother, We thank You. If we have children who speak to us, We thank You. And if we have other, complicated feelings About this commercial holiday, We’re not the only ones. The mother-child bond is meant to Provide an experience of love reminiscent Of your compassion and care. Based on that early learning, You mean for us To easily trust your love. How You grieve if we didn’t get that nurture. You weep with us when we mourn The void of what You meant to be; The parts that sin stole. Come, Holy Spirit. Some of us need your comfort. We need You to give us experiences of Kindness and compassion, along with discipline, Like a good mother provides. You are our eternal parent. And even if we had a terrific mother, We are grateful that your goodness Exceeds our mother’s goodness. We will never give up looking for your kindness. There’s always more to find. And the best is yet to be, When we will be fully restored, safe with You. Amen.
