God Will Win The War

“Death is wicked,” Ben Sasse says in his interview with Scott Pelley. Death is the ultimate example of Satan, in his wickedness, winning a battle but, because of Jesus’ victory over death, losing the war. Nobody dies prettily. Fifty years ago, we were at the bedside of a young woman when she was a hour away from dying of cancer. She was unrecognizable. I also remember her funeral sermon when a pastor asserted that Patty had now been welcomed into the perpetual party of God. That is to say death did not have the last word. Death won’t be the last word in Ben Sasse’s life, either, however ugly and wicked his death might be. God will welcome Mr. Sasse, too, to his perpetual party. God wins the war.
