Father God Lord Jesus Holy Spirit We present ourselves before You again this Sunday. We gather to encourage each other. To take strength from each other. When others tell of their trust, Our faith is reinforced. We are a countercultural community, Joined by our acceptance of your authority. We believe You are Lord, You are supreme ruler, You are the Alpha and Omega, The beginning and the end. And we believe You are love. Not love like the culture espouses, Of endless support of almost any personal choice, But love that shapes us into your holiness. Love that gives us a place to stand In your presence. In one sense, we are Already holy because of the cross, But we are also being made into your image, Jesus. In the imputed righteousness procured At the cross, we can present ourselves Without fear, because we are deeply and Sacrificially loved. But we confess, most of us harbor some fear Because we’ve not yet been perfected in your love. Please reveal more of your tender compassion. We want to live without fear. We will never give up seeking your peace. There’s always more to rest in. And the best is yet to be, at peace forever. Amen.
Hi Karen,
Your Sunday posts are always a great encouragement, and also so biblical (and thus) counter-cultural. I love that:
--we gather to encouraged and draw support (but service to others first!!)
--acceptance of Your authority, and You are Lord and supreme ruler (and beginning and end)
--a love that shapes as well as cares
--and despite your holiness, we can come before You without fear
And our only need is more of You in our lives
Thanks,
Sam
Isaiah 64:8 “I am the potter; you are the clay." I guess I have some choice in whether I'm hard and stubborn clay in the hands of the potter, or if I let go of fear and with humility try to be soft clay. But not too soft that I accept anything. God, help me be your clay.
