“You want to become a master at overcoming hard moments. That is, to me, the sign of a champion…” Tennis legend Roger Federer, speaking at Dartmouth’s graduation June 9, 2024 This quote puts me in mind of the need for self-compassion. We screw up, we sin, we make mistakes. What do we do with those? Can we grieve the losses and let them go? Or are we still carrying regrets from decades ago? Do we know God gives us permission to forgive ourselves? If what we’ve done is actually sin, have we agreed with God that it was wrong? If so, we can leave it behind on the road. We need not carry it with us. If it’s a mistake or a screwup that’s not truly harmful to ourselves or someone else, can we accept that we’re the kind of person who doesn’t always say the right thing? Who forgets something important? Who doesn’t score every point? Can we let ourselves be, without relentless self punishment? Can we fully focus on the next point, the next interaction, this day? The Lord bless you and keep you all your days.

“relentless self punishment”
That struck a chord with me Karen. It’s the mindset God has been walking me out of.
Thanks for the good words.❤️
