“Wake up and face the mystery.”
Today, on our morning walk, it struck me that every morning, we wake up facing mystery.
We have no idea what the day holds. We make our plans, or not, but we don’t know.
Because it’s how we have always lived and will always live, that may not seem odd. It’s clearly God’s plan. Living into the unknown is how God has set up this story.
But isn’t it odd?
Oh, I can see all kinds of reasons why. To demonstrate God’s the Author here, not us. He’s in charge of the direction. It’s His story. We’re players on the stage. Important, but not the writers.
But, can’t it get oppressive? Not knowing, for sure, what’s ahead?
Fear can flood our hearts.
We can resent the unknowing.
Hopelessness can take hold.
It could also be exciting, but that’s not my first thought. I hope it’s yours.
Hopeful joy is my first thought about the mystery that awaits when the Kingdom comes. How exciting will that be?
What’s the continuity between the mystery now and then?
How much will we review what our life here meant?
What does the Kingdom on earth look like?
I have no idea. What we can know is that the Godhead in charge of all sent Himself to make a way for us to be part of His eternal story.
That passionate embrace of humankind gives me a basis of trust in the midst of the daily and eternal uncertainties.
If we want, we can be carried into mystery that will exceed all our hopes.
Glory.
Players not writers. Yes!
Hopeful joy!!!
Thank you for wise words!
