Empower Us to Tremble at Your Word

Father God Lord Jesus Holy Spirit We present ourselves before You again this Sunday. We have put aside our phones. We have traveled to this place. We want to settle our hearts before You. We are here to listen to your word. Indeed, we need to tremble at your word Lest we tremble at lesser voices. In spite of all the other content Snagging our attention—from the Voices of childhood bullies Still polluting our minds to the latest Shouts from the media—we know Only You give words worth trembling before. We listen to other voices But we know your voice is the only true voice. Only as You instruct us will we find What we are looking for. You are the God of all the earth and There is nothing too difficult for You. You will prevail not by might, not by power, But in You, Holy Spirit. As You empower us to listen, We will trust your heart and your voice. We will never give up looking forward to Eternal joy while praying and working For your will to be done here. There’s always more listening and work to do. And the best will be here soon, when your voice Of care, compassion, and justice will take charge. Amen.
