Father God Lord Jesus Holy Spirit We present ourselves before You again this Sunday. We don’t want to give up on You, Jesus Because your people are hypocrites. Because we don’t live up to what We say we believe. We don’t want to let others’ unfaithfulness Affect our faithfulness. We want to cling to You, Jesus, Whether the leaders we follow Turn out to be saints or wolves. We who have given Our lives to You Have glaring blind spots That obscure your glory. We profess faith but live in fear. We love too little and ignore too much. We may even take advantage of others’ weakness Rather than helping to strengthen them. We all have financial and emotional limits And some of us need to Respect those limits more, but Others need to grow softer hearts. Oh, Lord Jesus, how we need your power For wisdom and conviction and faithfulness. We confess our foolishness. We confess our selfishness. We confess our indifference. We will never give up asking for more. There’s always more growth in faith and love. And the best is yet to be when, under your holy Reign, we will be who You mean us to be. Amen.
Hi Karen,
Thanks for the double reminder: not to let the sins of others (their hypocrisy or unfaithfulness) undermine our faith in You; nor let their sins cause us to forget or look past our own sins. (Which we LOVE to do :-) ).
Just yesterday at church we sang, "I Set My Hope On Jesus," and it really struck me: I SO EASILY let my faith be undermined by things of the world.
Thanks!
Powerful and timely Karen.
