Awaken Delight

“Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart” has been one of my key verses. Psalm 37:4 "Awaken Delight,” a book by Stephanie Rousselle, is a resource based on that scripture. Stephanie is a French, previously atheist, believer. In the last twenty years, she has organized a whole ministry around that concept. In conjunction with the release of the book, she offered a short devotional series on delight. She ended the series with a prayer: “O God of living waters, today I come thirsty again. Not merely for answers, relief, productivity, clarity, or spiritual success— but for You. For Your presence that steadies me, Your beauty that interrupts my hurry, Your mercy that meets me before I perform, Your love that existed long before I tried to earn it. Awaken my delight in You.” Sign up for the 5 day devotional series to get the rest of the two page prayer. I don’t know Stephanie but her book was recommended by a trusted source. And I appreciate her multiethnic, biblically orthodox, approach on her website. If we delight ourselves in Jesus, our desires will change. We will desire more of Him. He is our “very great reward.” (Genesis 15:1) Not houses or relationships or meaningful work. They are all his good gifts. But He is the source and reward of our lives.
