Father God Lord Jesus Holy Spirit We present ourselves before You again this Sunday. We are a broken and needy people. None of us is sufficient onto ourselves. No one is complete. You made us and we belong to You. That may feel scary to some of us Because we don’t truly trust That your intentions toward us Are for our good, always. We have been taught and we assume You are an attentive and concerned Father. But we’ve not actually experienced enough of Your deep work in our wounded hearts. Is anything harder than letting You probe The deepest parts of our pain? You know that, so You don’t barge in. You wait for our invitation before You Dig deeper, expose more lies. We may even think we don’t believe Lies about your character and purpose, But everyone does. Only You, Jesus, Showed us a life of utter truth and honesty. Give us, please, a willingness to let You in. A desire to let You meet us in our deepest pains. We will never give up inching towards You. There’s always more for You to heal. And the best will be here before we know it, When all will be well, all will be well, and All manner of thing will be well. Amen.
Hi Karen,
Thank you for a beautiful poem. I love your gracious (and subtle) balance. Some people think our only problems are the wounds caused by others, and some people think our only problem is our own sins.
You have beautifully capture both: the healing we need from the wounds of others, and the healing we need from our sins of unbelief in Him. And the two healings work hand in glove.
Thank you.
Father, Lord, come heal us of all, that we may be expressions of Your glory and goodness to others.
